Hello all, I have received a request from Phil Tate head of the Oklahoma Aquarium exhibits crew and they are in need of some help coming up soon. They will be setting up fencing around our parking lots in preparation for the 4th of July holiday. This job will be outside, in the heat, doing manual labor so be prepared! It will include a lot of lifting, bending, and the sort. They will be attempting to start early in the day and will only go so long as it is tolerable outside. If you are interested in this dress appropriately, bring water, and be prepared! The dates are June 30th, July 1st, and July 2nd and the start times will be no later than 10, but if you can be here earlier in the day they will be starting earlier. Phil is in need of 3 helpers a day for this role! If you are interested you can respond to Chris Ray (email@example.com) or reach out to Phil directly at Ptate@okaquarium.org.
Remember, you will need to have already gone to an Aquarium Volunteer Orientation before starting to volunteer! Learn more about that here: https://www.okaquarium.org/199/Aqua-Teens

I hope your week is off to a great start. This semester we have just one more workday scheduled at Flycatcher Trail and we would love to have some Key Club members out to participate. In the past, they have played such an important role in maintaining and improving this space for our school, native wildlife, and community! The next day we are planning on hosting volunteers is this Saturday May 8th from 9am-12pm and 1-4pm. Students of course do not have to stay the full day and can come and go as they need, but we will have these two times scheduled with a break for students to get lunch if they would like to work both times.
At this workday we hope to plant flowers and herbs in the new area of the trail! This area will become a sensory garden space that will help support native wildlife and benefit our Jenks students. Of course, there are always other options and items that students can participate in as well around the garden as well! The one reminder I would give is that volunteers should bring a mask for when they are working around others and a water bottle might be a good idea as well although we will make sure to have some available for students.
There are new volunteer opportunities for May for Key Clubbers interested in working with animals! Every Saturday this month, you can sign up to help the Pet Adoption League at PetSmart on 71st and Mingo in setting up/taking down cages, walking dogs, and playing with puppies and kittens! There are two shifts that can be covered every Saturday, the first from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, and the second from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm, and two volunteers are needed for each shift. When signing up for a shift, please make sure that you intend on showing up, and please don’t sign up for more than two shifts in order to allow everyone the opportunity to volunteer. All in all, this is a great way to earn hours while doing something enjoyable, like playing with puppies! If you have any questions, email Abeer Shoaib at firstname.lastname@example.org, or sign up for the Remind with the code @cka92g8.
